About Venturing

Why You Should Join Venturing

First, Venturing is awesome! Second, Venturing gives older Scouts a chance to participate in activities that are age appropriate for 14-20 year olds, that may not be suitable for the 10-17 year old Scouts in a Boy Scout Troop. Venturing is also co-educational and brings young men and young women who enjoy the outdoors together in a safe environment with trained male and female adult leaders. Many female Venturers are current or former Girl Scouts who not only enjoy activites with their Troop, but also want to participate in more adventurous activities with their peers. If you love the outdoors, you'll love Venturing.

Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years of age.

Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults.

Venturing is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth, adult leaders, and organizations in their communities. Local community organizations establish a Venturing crew by matching their people and program resources to the interests of young people in the community. The result is a program of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

Venturing crews can specialize in a variety of avocation or hobby interests.

Adult Venturing Advisors are commited to the health and safety of the youth participants and complete comprehensive youth protection training developed and conducted by the Boy Scouts of America.
